Our Mission
- To improve education in the area
of teen drug issues by combining the insights of personal experience with the most
comprehensive and currently available prevention and treatment information.
Development of EVER WONDERED™
The original concept for my first book, “Ever Wondered if your child will use drugs?”
originated after personal success in recovering from 14 years of addiction to drugs.
After this book was compiled, the idea of devising further helpful resources for
parents and teens, developed into a business plan, EVER WONDERED™; one with a unique
angle, due to the benefit of personal experience.
I have discovered that there are limited persons in current positions of information
delivery who possess the crucial element of life experience. This is why EVER WONDERED™
will have such an impact on the development and delivery of drug education and related
issues.
Thus, I registered EVER WONDERED™ as a business on 9 May 2001.
After the registration of the business, I initiated a series of meetings with key
players in the drug education and information industry to introduce them to EVER
WONDERED™ and to investigate their organization’s or government department’s involvement
in the industry.
I had already identified that one of the main missing links to the success of teen
drug prevention is adequate education for both parents and children. These meetings
confirmed this theory.
In fact, when I was involved in the 60 Minutes taping of their Drug Forum,
20 June 2001, in Melbourne, Australia, my comments were televised on the need for
greater promotion and availability of directly accessible information for parents
on drug prevention.
My belief in how important it is for parents everywhere to have this direct access
to drug information, prompted me to design EVER WONDERED™ products and services accordingly.
Therefore, to coincide with the release of the first book, it is intended that EVER
WONDERED™ will also offer public speaking engagements for a wide variety of parenting
groups, community organizations, schools and related professionals internationally
on drug prevention and life skills. (EVER WONDERED™ available for bookings within
specific time frames per country)
Furthermore, EVER WONDERED™ decided to offer workshops for parents and children,
to be devised through a combination of personal experience, extensive in-depth industry
research and coordination of available resources.
EVER WONDERED™ has identified the need to remodel the drug awareness programs, currently
offered to teens in schools, for greater success, with life skills components to
be incorporated. With the unique aspect of personal experience, EVER WONDERED™ will
add credibility and a serious tone to these programs for teens.
Therefore, workshops devised for school children will be available through EVER WONDERED™,
with number of presentations per workshop to be determined on an individual school
basis.
These programs also need to have a parent component, linking what children learn
in schools to what education parents are provided with; therefore, EVER WONDERED™
will offer parent workshops through participating schools. Advanced workshops will
be devised at a later stage to compliment original workshops.
Research and development of the planned workshops is envisioned for
the near future, possibly late 2002; therefore, is to be considered at concept stage only.
Further work is to be researched and presented to parents by
EVER WONDERED™ on treatment issues and related topics in the future.
EVER WONDERED™ plans to publish future books and book products for furthering its
drug education series.
EVER WONDERED™ also provides limited advice and referrals to other organizations
and professional bodies that are primarily involved in drug education. This means
EVER WONDERED™ must maintain an up-to-date knowledge on available resources in the
environment.
It was decided that all products and services provided by EVER WONDERED™ would be
complementary to government and larger non-government organizations, which provide
drug education and support to the community. Utilization of these organizations and
coordination with their available resources will be promoted.
